PS: I am pretty sure that anyone who thinks that someone's life can "jump the shark" lacks imagination and criticalthinking skills. They're a bit industrial in appearance, but I have always wondered if they could be helpful for my some of my ASD students.
Thus, both of us could train ourselves in criticalthinking during coaching sessions, which would be more ethical than a naive neutrality. If I am aware of my biases and help the coachee become aware of theirs, we can be vigilant and better protect ourselves.
Keeping one's criticalthinking capacity on all the time – not hiding it behind laws or rules of polite discourse – is key to doing anything different or better. That is brave and most of all intellectually honest. anger irritability etc. how does this translate in real time?
It used to be that people only did writing and criticalthinking for school. So they needed school to teach them communication skills and criticalthinking skills. And I could have gotten all of those read/writing/criticalthinking skills simply by reading, writing, and joining writers groups on my own.
