I remember joining the workforce, you know, 2005. Our signature BPM program provides interactive management training with a results-oriented curriculum and prime networking opportunities. Jenn DeWall: Yeah, I mean, this has been music to my ears.
Most people get jobs from their network, not from a career center. And social media is the fastest, most effective way for you to build a network. As a Gen-Y who stopped going to college I found that real life experiences, networks and self education were more important and vital than a college education for my career track.
You can also think of job-hunting as doing the difficult work of connecting with people and looking for an opening in your network, and that’s certainly not something you can do all day. Brief back story: I resigned from a job 2 weeks ago and plan to spend the next 6 months networking and volunteering, working as close to part-time as possible just to pay the bills. In my work with other entrepreneurs, many of them forget focus on the people (the networking and the contacts) who can help them obtain their goal.

The book "Trust Agents" discusses how contacts and networks in combination with skill and expertise lead to success. You're building a great network here. I had the body type and dedication, but never had access to the coach that could have taken me to the next level. I got frustrated and quit.
Your career is only as strong as your network! As someone who "reads people" for a living (recruiting and hr), it is absolutely critical to find out what type of person you are working with- on both ends! Also, workplace catch phrases that annoy everyone are especially annoying if you’re not an extrovert: Toot your own horn!

I've been meeting cool Twitter friends as they come through San Francisco too – hey, you're always telling us we should network more! Making the effort to keep up with a huge and varied network (both business and personal) has led to all kinds of wonderful, unexpected things.
