Even if I manage to do that, I will not feel like I have accomplished something important today. And then, when it turns out that it really does mean sleep inducing I didn’t feel accomplished. Caring for each other has more to do about the people who we report to and manage than the goals of the organization. If your boss comes to work every day genuinely looking to help you grow, and you do the same for the people you manage, then that's a great workplace.
It’s that they can’t manage to be socially acceptable while they get the work done. That's not how to manage your career. BTW, I managed to get my son to graduate high school last year. It seems odd that the special ed teacher/case manager was not present at the meeting to help provide context to the discussion.
