It may make you feel good to give someone compliments, or vindicated to tell them what they did wrong, but constructive criticism often requires pulling yourself out of the situation and engaging compassionately in finding solutions. Or is the only solution to find another job with another manager who does care? Much harder.

I guess there’s no real solution besides maybe trying to understand other people’s priorities. That’s why crying is so important, it’s a visual signal of just how much the other person wants to get their way. Men should cry more. Except for the slow eaters, these are bounded problems with reliable solutions. Often, the keys aren't there.
I find happiness in material things, sure, but I'm happy when I'm with friends that remind me of where I'm from and what we've been through, when I'm with my girlfriend and can think about building a future with her, and when I'm alone and can organize thoughts, make plans, and find solutions.
As an engineer I always try to think of technology solutions to problems like this. Sometimes the simplest solution is the least obvious. This may seem like a Pollyanna solution. Like I can't use a Moleskine to track my todo list because I can't reorder items and clear out crossed out items if it's on paper.
Coaching is not consulting, mentoring, educating, or facilitating. Perhaps as a way to justify the lack of credentialing and training needed to be a coach (Rothazier & Hill, 2009). Rothazier and Hill (2009) highlight in their case study: coaching isn’t just about the present and the future.

" Speaking from experience, it was the realization that ending this particular mind-state/personality view at this particular time and place was not going to be any kind of lasting solution to fixing the ultimate reality that needed fixing. Either that or I'm just too happy about life. " I believe things can be fixed.
