I flew my wife out on frequent flyer miles and all we had to do way pay for meals and entertainment.
interesting dynamic relates to careers, specifically interviews. As evidenced by the disparate subjects of my two favorite blogs (happiness; intentionally provocative career advice with a dose of drama & self-reflection), I disagree that people are drawn toward either happiness or interestingness at the expense of the other.

Your posts are always entertaining, but what really gets me thinking is the comments from the loyal readers. You're accomplishing herculean tasks few women ever think of attempting. Since you don't have a husband and you have your own career, I think it's fair to allow yourself a little extra help in the morning.
Even though you say you only do it at work… No way I could, which is why IT is the best career for me. Winning is usually accomplished by placing the ball where your opponent isn't located: either you put the ball there yourself or you pass your team-mate so they can put the ball there.
Which is good because it’s a cost center, which means there are no line manager positions in HR, so it’s a dangerous career move for everyone. My career as a workplace genius is not over. the career stuff is ok, but it feels like you write that when you are being boxed in by those around you. Write about how you have been successful in your career despite your Aspergers, although I think you might not like this because as you mentioned in a previous post, it would glorify the abnormal. And your life is redemptive.

Most people with Asperger’s, even if they are geniuses at, say, engineering (which is very common ) get in trouble mid-career for lack of social skills. Or just continue to pity them all, no matter how much they accomplish in life? I hate the glorification of abnormal. It’s not fun or glamorous. She also drinks a lot.
His book, Create Your Own Economy , is about how the information flow of the Internet allows us to manage our careers differently than before. Because I have an appetite for knowledge for it's own sake, I have very little patience for ignorant and shallow people or mundane and silly conversation,entertainment, etc.

And I say that as the mother of a bright 10 year old who declares her intent to be an author as her future career! After all, it's historical "entertainment" Surely more relevant modern English texts abound. Great post and thought provoking indeed. Usually in 140 characters or less. What employers want to do is as quickly as possible figure out how someone will function at work — how do they think, how are they with analysis, how engaged are they in their career, etc. But when watching TV or in a darkened movie theater, intimacy is so much simpler to accomplish. The intimacy of reading is overrated.
In fact, the most surprising thing about this news is that women are earning more than men , and men have seen a generation of women with fertility nightmares from putting off having children in favor of building their career, yet still, nothing changes in the marriage equation. So I don’t know about this book. I’m not sure how useful it is.
And, people who manage their careers well end up paying more attention to a company’s reputation for caring about people and community than what any given job description is. One of the most important changes in work life is that we do not define our career by working for one company—we change jobs too frequently.
