I'd like to add one idea from a mentor of mine, who led big organizations in both sectors. Our bank account barely noticed. The exceptions are nonpartisan government organizations like the OCC's bank examiners and the NTSB. Salesforce.com rocks! This is definitely something I will keep in mind when (if?)

Something with a 24-hour on-call number, lots of opportunity for online networking, and required practice sessions with the whole "awkward conversation/drink holding" tango. I'm 51 and find it hard to do things like call doctors, or go to the bank, or make appts., There could be body language index cards!

I was thinking that even though I don’t know where my bank card is, I have the company card. Good managers will do their own recruiting by having their own great network. And managers already recruit through networks – at least in areas of short supply, or PAs who they take from job to job with them.

P.S. One of my mentors used to say "anything worth doing is worth doing 'badly'!" Finding out that there is more money in my banking account than previously thought. " It drove many of us crazy. Took me a while to realize what he meant. If you beat a baby for falling, it will never learn to walk.

As a mother of toddler and a holding full time job at a bank, I had a crazy life last few yrs in India managing everything and feeling guilty in every area for not being able to give 100% time.
