Last week we ran a webinar to provide an introduction to The CareerDevelopment Handbook. The book is designed to give a comprehensive introduction to the field and practice of careerdevelopment. Today I have been in the amazing surrounds of Astana, Kazakhstan at the Asia Pacific CareerDevelopment Association. I ran a hybrid workshop for attendees in Kazakhstan and those connected digitally across Asia today on careerdevelopment and social justice.
I have been asked by the International Schools Partnership to run a couple of workshops for parents. In these workshops I am going to try and address what the future of work might hold and hopefully to put people’s minds at rest. The future of work (ISP workshop) Download.
We have updated the handbook to take account of all of these changes and to pull together all the information and ideas careers leaders need to establish outstanding careers programmes for their students. It includes chapters on each of the eight Gatsby benchmarks and further sections on leading, managing, co-ordinating and networking.
I will be leading the workshop with David Andrews, so you will get direct access to the brains behind the book! Today I ran a workshop on career guidance in schools for the CDANZ conference in Auckland, New Zealand. In it I tried to distil down the learning that we’ve had from 12-13 years of a school based career guidance system in England and use it to prompt some thinking about how colleagues might want to develop things in New Zealand.
