When we see the big triumph its easy to get all motivated, but small things are which we need to keep on doing inspite of them being the most difficult to do. To contrast what some the other comments, I too believe that being self-employed is MUCH better than having a job because that's my personality to be self-motivated and I saw large flaws in some of the traditional job systems. When my last car broke down in the middle of an intersection, I got the magazine out of the trunk before I abandoned the car. I think that’s why I carry the magazine with me everywhere I go. I want to be more diligent about finding a mentor to help me grow, outside of my supervisor. To remind me to look.

The way that Tamara Lowe explains Motivational DNA is actually very nice, as the two core drivers of Producers versus Connectors assimilate to to some pieces of being an introvert or extrovert. The best hiring situations that I've mediated are ones in which a personality (or behavioral psychology) test is utilized.

As a result, I'm content to remain a behind-the-scenes figure or a mentor's mentor ( [link] ). They might consider some of their actions "interesting", but the underlying motivation is competition. And they probably are content with healthy, they wouldn't strive for magazine driven anorexia.
