By the time you're close, you are so motivated to get there that it doesn't feel like work at all. When we see the big triumph its easy to get all motivated, but small things are which we need to keep on doing inspite of them being the most difficult to do. To contrast what some the other comments, I too believe that being self-employed is MUCH better than having a job because that's my personality to be self-motivated and I saw large flaws in some of the traditional job systems. The way that Tamara Lowe explains Motivational DNA is actually very nice, as the two core drivers of Producers versus Connectors assimilate to to some pieces of being an introvert or extrovert. The best hiring situations that I've mediated are ones in which a personality (or behavioral psychology) test is utilized.
They may even give you the motivation needed to finally get that A project done. I'm stuck and nothing truly motivates me anymore. I had 100 tasks to do, but instead I sat down in front of the TV with her and read a magazine. There are times when you just need to follow those whims, as unimportant and un-urgent as they are.
